Galatia Schools want to recognize our awesome staff and teachers. This year we will be posting Staff Spotlights and Teacher Spotlights frequently to our Facebook and Livefeed pages. We want to use this opportunity to share with the community the positive impact these employees are making in our schools and to let you get to know them a little better. For our first Staff Spotlight, we have Starla Pigg. Ms. Starla has been the Food Service Director for six years. Her favorite part of the job is seeing the kiddos everyday and talking to them. She said "You never know what they are going to say!" A grade school teacher used this quote to describe Starla: "Day after day, ordinary people become heroes through extraordinary and selfless actions to help their neighbors. "-Sylvia Mathews Burwell We asked Ms. Starla a couple interesting questions: Question: Could you imagine yourself doing something else instead of what you do now? Response: I can't imagine doing anything else than what I'm doing now. If I could I would do it for free, lol. Question: One thing you would tell your 13-year-old self, what would it be? Response: At 13 I would tell myself to get out there and live your best life and not be afraid to try new things. Thank you Ms. Starla for all the hard work you do!

Big congratulations going out to both the JH boys and girls Jr Bearcat baseball and softball teams. The Junior Bearcats brought home a win against Carrier Mills tonight, with a score of 17-2, improving their record to 6-1 for the season. The Junior Lady Bearcats also brought home a win tonight with a score of 18-7, bringing their record to 6-2 for the season. Congratulations to both teams! Keep it up! ⚾️🥎

Correction: The Volleyball game TOMORROW night against Pope Co. is a home game. So, the first HS Volleyball home game will be tommorrow night August 26th, at GHS at 6:00. The Volleyball game tonight August 25th against Eldorado will be played at Eldorado Middle School at 6:15

Parents, The city notified us this afternoon all Galatia Schools will be without water for a minimum of 8 hours starting at 7:00 am. Due to no water at any of our buildings, Galatia Schools will not be in session on August 23, 2022.

Attention: the Jr. High softball game scheduled for Tuesday August 23rd against Unity Christian has been canceled, and will be rescheduled for a later date. The Jr. High baseball game against Unity Christian scheduled for that day is still on, and will be played at Herrin Park on diamond 1 at 4:30.

Tomorrow Galatia is hosting a Junior High Softball tournament. At 10:00am is Galatia vs. Meridian. at 11:30am is Meridian vs. Eldorado. And at 1:00pm is Galatia vs. Eldorado. Please come out and show the Jr. Lady Cats your support.

Galatia Schools would like to recognize 4 students for being in the top 3% of all students in the State of Illinois who took the state IAR test last Spring. Seth Brown and Lindsey Romonosky were in the top 3 in math and Kinsley Johnson and Olive Launius were in the top 3% in ELA. Congratulations to these students and the excellence they showed on the state test. Well Done!!!

Picture day at the Junior High and High School will be Monday, August 29th. Please view each of the images to see package cost and information. If a student is not purchasing pictures we ask that they go through and have their picture taken for the yearbook. Forms have been given to students.

Galatia High School Cross Country will have practice tomorrow at 3:30 meet at the flag pole.. all High school student are welcome!!

Attention parents/guardians: Drop off and pick up will remain at each buildings’ main entrance. Drop off between 7:45 and 8:00am (doors do not open until 7:45am). First hour/school starts at 8:00am. This week we will dismiss busses starting at 1:45pm. When all busses have cleared we will dismiss pickups, walkers and drivers around 2:00pm.
