As many of you know we lost one of our own, Tyler Anderson, last night in a car accident. Tyler was a junior at Galatia High School. He was an active member of FFA and Trapcats. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends at this time. This news comes as a huge shock to everyone. Galatia School District wants to make sure to provide our students with resources as they are grieving this loss. First, there will be counselors available by phone through WOVSED. To reach one of these counselors, any student can call 618-8 41-8282 Monday-Friday during the hours of 8:00AM-3:30 PM. If you need to reach a counselor after hours, call Saline County dispatch at 618-252-8661, and tell them you need to talk to a counselor. Second, Illinois has set up a hotline during this COVID-19 pandemic called Call 4 Calm. Students can text the word “TALK” to 552020 and a counselor will call them. Lastly, Galatia staff understands that many students prefer to talk to someone they know and trust during times like these. Please reach out to a trusted staff member if you need to talk.

Tune in tomorrow morning at 8am and listen to one of our very own Bearcat Senior Aj Hankins & GHS Nick Triplett as they talk local sports! You won't be disappointed!

Class of 2020 Parents/Guardians: Ms. Harbin will be sending senior pictures to the newspaper on Tuesday, April 28th. If you have not sent anything in, please do so at mharbin@galatiak12.org. I really do not want to leave anyone out. Also, Ms. Harbin will be making a slideshow for YouTube and hopefully the graduation ceremony later this summer. Please send in your baby, middle school, and any group pics you may have.

Ms. Harbin's assignments are online and use Internet programs. If you cannot use the internet for any reason, please pick up an alternate assignment at the high school. Email me at mharbin@galatiak12.org with any questions.

Galatia Class of 2021 students and parents: Mrs. Launius will be sending out emails in the next week or two to student school email addresses to start signing up for classes for next school year. Please be checking your email accounts for these. When you receive this email there will be a Course Request Form attached. The required courses for you to take will already be marked for you and there will be guidance on what other courses you can choose. Please make your selections and send back to alaunius@galaitak12.org. If you wish to have a phone conference with Mrs. Launius before making selections, reply to the email and let Mrs. Launius know and she will call you. Thank you!

Galatia high school students and parents: All fourth quarter assignments will be graded as Pass/Incomplete and therefore, fourth quarter grades will also be reported as Pass/Incomplete. Each student’s third quarter letter grade and fourth quarter Pass/Incomplete will be averaged together for a second semester grade of Pass/Incomplete. It is incredibly important for high school students to resolve any Incomplete grades before the end of this school year. High school students will be REQUIRED to receive a Pass to gain credit for their courses.
