Teacher Spotlight: Gretchen Mayberry. Mrs. Mayberry has spent 10 of her 12 years in education in the Galatia Schools as a 2nd and now 1st Grade Teacher.
Mrs. Mayberry had this to say about her favorite part of working here, "Galatia welcomed me with open arms back in 2013 when I was a substitute for a maternity leave. I never left after that, because it felt like home to me. The community is not only welcoming, but also very supportive to our schools and teachers. We really do have some of the best teachers and staff here who always do what's best for kids above everything else."
Mrs. Mayberry's coworkers had this to say, "Gretchen has a heart of gold and tries to make each of her students feel special. I continue to see students that she has had in the past come to her room in the mornings before school to see her and give her a hug. I am sure her students will remember her long past graduation time."
We asked her some interesting questions:
Question: What was the first concert you ever attended?
Response: The first concert that I attended was 98 Degrees when I was in middle school back in the 90s.
Question: What would you eat if you had to eat only one meal every day for the rest of your life?
Response: If I had to choose one meal to eat everyday for the rest of my life it would have to be a Pollo Loco from Tequilas. I doubt that this will be a surprise to those who know me best.
Thank you Mrs. Mayberry for all your hard work!

Staff Spotlight: Kim Jenkins. Ms. Kim has been a Bus Driver and Teacher's Aide for 15 years for Galatia Schools.
She says "getting to know and interact with the kids" is the best part of her job.
Ms. Kim's coworker had this to say, "She is an extremely hard worker and is always there to give a helping hand when needed." Another coworker said, "She does a lot for our students that no one even knows about."
We asked Ms. Kim some interesting questions:
Question: What is your favorite pastime?
Response: My favorite pastime is camping and boating with family and friends.
Question: Where is your favorite destination you’ve visited, and why?
Response: My favorite place I have ever been is Perdido Key. I love the clear water, white sand, and it’s not as busy/crowded as the larger destinations.
Thank you Ms. Kim for all your hard work!
