High School Prom is this Saturday, April 15. Promenade will be held at 6:30pm in the gym, announcing of Prom King & Queen immediately after Promenade then the dance to follow.

Jr. High report cards are being sent home today. There were some typos on a few of the report cards so they had to be reprinted.

Attention: both HS baseball and HS softball will play in Pope Co. tonight at 4:30

The Basscats competed at the TBF tournament at Lake of Egypt on Saturday.
For the junior high teams:
Ella Hogue and Kam Tullis weighed 2lbs 2oz.
Kael Krelo and Cayden Baird brought in 4lbs even.
Hollyn McCabe and Kaydence Albright brought in 7lbs, 8oz for a 3rd place finish.
For our high school teams:
Karson Baird and Nate Kern brought in 6lbs, 11oz.
Ian Irvin and Dane Jenkins brought in 10lbs, 3oz.

Dress up days for prom week are as follows:


K-2 grade has play practice today if they signed up for Seussical. Practice will be over at 4:30. Please make sure to pick your child up at this time at the Grade School. Thanks.

Attention Galatia HS students & families! GHS will be PSAT/SAT Testing on Wednesday, April 12th! Freshman students will take the PSAT 8/9, Sophomores will take the PSAT 10, and Juniors take the SAT. This is a graduation requirement. Attendance is extremely important on Wednesday!! Get plenty of rest the night before, wake up early to be at school on time, and have a healthy breakfast. Seniors will be able to watch movies, play in gym/outside or get caught up on homework or projects. Juniors need sharpened number two pencils, and a calculator. There will be some of these items available to use.
Items NOT permitted:
No electronic devices such as Chromebooks, tablets, Bluetooth devices, earbuds, headphones, cell phones, smart watches, watches that make any noises or alerts. Mechanical pencils are not allowed. No food or drinks are allowed in the testing rooms. All other personal and school related items will remain in lockers until testing is completed. Please contact the office or counseling department with any questions.

Staff Spotlight: Valerie Horton. Valerie has been a cook at the high school for the past 5 years.
Valerie said her favorite part about working at Galatia Schools is: "is making kid's laugh or smile."
Valerie's coworkers had this to say: "Her joy-filled smile and kind heart always make my day. The atmosphere is so fun and inviting in the cafeteria. She always goes above and beyond! "
We asked her some interesting questions:

Teacher Spotlight: Brandi Patton. Mrs. Patton has been a teacher in the Galatia School system for 22 years. She has been a 1st and 3rd grade teacher, currently a middle school Literature/Social Studies teacher, and JH/HS Drama Club Co-Sponsor.
Mrs. Patton had this to say about working at Galatia Schools: "I get to work with a wonderful group of teachers that have become dear friends. I enjoy our small community and love watching our students grow and learn. Galatia has always been home and is close to my heart. We have a great staff and students!"
Mrs. Patton's coworkers had this to say: "Mrs. Patton is a bright spot in our schools. She goes above and beyond in engaging students and truly cares about each and every one of them. We are so lucky to have her here!" "She is dedicated to her job and the students love her. "
We asked her some interesting questions:
Question: What is something unique about you (a fun fact) that few people are aware of?
Response: I love to kickbox and even teach a few classes during summer break.
Question: Where is your favorite destination you’ve visited, and why?
Response: The Dominican Republic is my favorite place I have visited. The beaches are beautiful, and there are so many adventures to choose. Swimming along sharks and stingrays with my girls is a memory I will always cherish.

Congratulations to senior Jack Johnston for making the IHSSBCA Class A All-State Second Team! His achievement will be recognized at their annual banquet on April 15th in Normal, IL. This is a great honor representing years of hard work and success in Scholar Bowl. Way to go, Jack!
