August 7: Teacher Inservice-No student attendance - Back to School Bash at FLOC from 3:00 to 5:00 - Open House from 5:00-6:00
August 8: Half Day student attendance - 11:30 Dismissal
August 9-16: 2:00 Dismissal for all students
September 2: Labor Day - No School

For any boys entering 5th through 8th grades wanting to play junior high baseball this fall, tryouts will be held on Monday, July 22 and Tuesday, July 23 from 3:30-6:00.

For any boys going into 5th-8th grade interested in playing baseball this fall, there will be non mandatory open field at 3:30 on Monday, July 1st.
As summer softball and baseball wind down, we would like to draw attention to the several construction projects going on at and around the high school this week. To ensure safety, please use extra caution entering/exiting fields and watching children around construction areas. Thank you!
We had a great last day at summer school. We had a water day outside with pools, water balloons, and water squirters. We cooled off with popcicles, juices, and water. They also got to play with bubbles and chalk. After all the water fun we walked to the blessing box to fill it up for the community and people in need. Thanks to all of the kiddos that came and had a great time with us this summer. A special thank you to all the staff that worked and made all of this possible.
We had a busy day at summer school today. We made paper airplanes and then we went to see who could fly theirs the farthest. Then we tried to see who could fly them through a hoop. We also did some team building on which team could build the tallest tower made of paper and tape. We made some catapults and finally got to erupt our volcanoes. Tomorrow is our last day of summer school. Air Evac will be coming for a visit and we are going to have a water day outside. Please make sure that your child has a towel. We have had a blast this summer.
We had another special visitor today at summer school...... Dustin Gunning from the Harrisburg Fire Department. He taught us about all the different equipment firefighters use, how to get out of your house safely in case of a fire, and of course STOP, DROP, and ROLL. He showed us how they use the ladder and maybe we all got a little wet. The kids absolutely loved it.
We had a special visitor today at summer school..... Smokey the Bear. We learned how to keep the forest safe from wildfires, what kind of animals you can see, the importance of trees, and so much more.
Had a great day at summer school today. We made volcanoes. The kids will get to erupt them later this week. In Art they got to create whay their own campsite wouls look like using construction paper. In PE the got to play a fun game of tag using Rock, Paper, Scissors. Just a reminder that we do not have summer school this Wednesday but will have it on Friday to make it up due to a federal holiday.
There will be open gym tonight from 5-7 for any high school girl interested in playing volleyball this fall.
Galatia FFA plans to square bale straw and grass hay starting Monday. The price is $4.00 per bale with you picking it up. If you or someone you know is interested in purchasing, please contact 618-926-6937. We will bale what we have orders for. Please contact by Monday morning.
We had a great trip to Rend Lake Visitor Center. We learned about animals in our area and some neat history. We enjoyed nature and playing outside.
The kids had an so much fun today at summer school. We made solar ovens to cook s'mores. Thank you Mackie's Pizza for donating pizza boxes. They enjoyed making them and then eating them. We had a vist today from Officer Bergman and K-9 Brawn. They showed the class what a K-9 does on the job and how he can protect police officers. The kids had lots of great questions. We really enjoyed their visit and a special thanks to Mr. Brown who stepped up and participated in the bite suit.
