Southeastern Illinois College will be hosting a FAFSA Workshop on October 30th and November 1st for anyone who needs additional help in completing their FAFSA applications.

Mrs. Biggerstaff’s 2nd grade class constructed toothpick and marshmallow houses. We tested them to see if they could withstand an earthquake simulation with jello. We had one group who’s house survived the earthquake! The students all did a great job and really enjoyed this science project.

Mrs. Moore's classroom enjoyed learning about apples with Ag in the Classroom.

Congratulations to the Galatia FFA Soil Judging team for placing first out of 13 schools in Section 25. Team members consisted of Jaedyn Beers, Kate Bond, Haylee Brown, Tyler Anderson, and Maddie Grubbs. Kate was also first place individual in the contest. Also, congratulations to the Galatia FFA tractor driving team of Casey Pribble and Trevor Hale on their 2nd place finish in the Section 25 FFA Tractor Driving Contest. Great job teams!

Cross Country Conference went great today. Tye placed 5th and Abby placed 2nd!

Jr. High girls basketball practice on Monday, Oct 8 is from 4:00-6:00, the boys will now practice from 6:00 - 8:00. Girls not attending the NSH tournament will practice with Coach Clayton at the HS on Wed (10/10), Thu (10/11) & Fri (10/12) from 3:00-4:30.

Tuesday, October 9th through Saturday, October 13th, the Jr. Lady Bearcats will kick off their basketball season by playing in New Simpson Hill's Round Robin Tournament.

On October 22 our Lady Cats will begin HS Volleyball regional action @ NCOE vs. Crab Orchard @ 6:00. The winner will advance to play NCOE on October 23 @ 5:30. The championship game will be October 25 @ 6:00. Sectionals will be played @ Thompsonville October 29 & 31.

Picture retake day is coming to Galatia on Tuesday, October 23rd.

PTO Mother-Son Weenie Roast

Our Lady Bearcats have a home volleyball game tonight, Thursday, Oct 4 @ 6:00 vs Gallatin Co Lady Hawks!!! Senior recognition for our 2018 volleyball team members will be Thursday, October 11. GO BEARCATS!!!

We are excited to announce the launch of our new web site and mobile app. The app can be downloaded for both Apple and Android devices. The app is free, and will be a great way to keep up with district information.

These senior students were recognized today by the University of Illinois at the Salute to Illinois Scholars College Fair and Luncheon in Effingham. Now through October 15th, Senior students can apply for admission to Eastern Illinois University and the application fee is waived.
