The JH/HS sports banquet will be held tomorrow, May 20 @ the HS gym. JH awards ceremony starts at 6:30, HS will follow with a 10 minute break between sessions. Also, the Trapcats are hosting a fish fry fundraiser before the sports banquet and will be serving from 4-6. The cost is $10 per person and includes a drink & dessert.

To celebrate, K - 3rd grade students participated in a coloring contest and 4th - 6th grade students participated in a drawing contest with the theme; Communication Across The Lifespan. The Galatia FFA will be holding a small lights parade in Galatia tonight starting at 6:30. They will start at the high school and take the Old Settlers Days parade route to Russell's side parking lot where they will hand out treats to the kids until 7:30. If anyone is interested in joining the parade with a lighted street legal vehicle, you may join them at the high school at 6:30.

Galatia High School senior Nick Triplett broadcasted the Tuesday 12/11 Galatia basketball game at Norris City. Nick works at WEBQ Harrisburg and does some radio games. Tuesday night was his first shot at being the main play by play guy. We are very proud of Nick and I know he has a very bright future. Maybe the next Jack Buck!!

Mrs. Campbell's 5th grade science and social studies classes studied the history of flight for national aviation month. We ended today using what we learned about center of gravity, drag, thrust, and lift with a paper airplane distance challenge. Students had to use their knowledge to create and test their airplanes. Great job students!

Hey Galatia Parents please make sure you are never driving around a bus when they are parked for drop off or pick-up at either school. At the grade school do not use the road on the East side of the school where the buses park in the morning or close to the end of the day. Grade School Parents should always drop off your kids at the front south entrance of the grade school across from the community center. Also, for each of the school buildings please make sure you do not speed in the parking lots. Our students are very important to us and we want to make sure they are safe.
PTO field trip for 1st-3rd grades is tomorrow. Please have your child wear tennis shoes and bring a sack lunch.

Harrisburg Community Health Dentists are coming again this year on November 28 & 29th to complete dental exams and cleanings. Any student can participate in this program. Remember dental exams are required by May for grades Kindergarten, second, and sixth grades. Contact your school nurse Melinda Teal for consent forms if you are interested in this program.

This is a part of the Section 25 FFA Barn Golf Open to raise money for the Illinois FFA Foundation, where each school in Section 25 made a course. The JH Lady Softball team upset Lick Creek 8-5 today. We play Thursday at Crab Orchard at 5:30!
The Balfour representative met with Sophomores and Seniors today. Students have packets to place their orders for graduation items and class rings. Orders and payments are due next Wednesday, Sept. 26th. Anyone who missed the meeting can pick up a packet in the office.
Congratulations to the Galatia FFA on winning 2nd place out 12 schools in the Section 25 Agronomy Contest. Team members Haylee Brown, Tyler Anderson, Hannah Jackson, Maddie Grubbs, and Kate Bond all placed in the top 10 individuals in the contest.
Congratulations to the Galatia FFA on winning 4th place out of 44 schools at the District 5 FFA Horse Judging Contest. Team member Courtney Pribble earned 8th place individual.
Mid-Term grade reports will be sent home with students on Monday, September 17th.
The 5th Grade field trip is Friday, September 28th.
